New Laboratory Director for the San Diego Operation

January 30, 2012 — We are pleased to announce John Marcelletti, Ph.D., will be assuming responsibility as the Laboratory Director for the San Diego operation at Tandem Labs, effective Monday, January 30.

Dr. John Marcelletti joins Tandem Labs with more than 20 years of bioanalytical experience in immunoanalytical and cell-based assays supporting pre-clinical and clinical drug development. He has held various leadership positions in the Pharma/Biotech and CRO industries. Since 2009, John has provided drug development consulting services, most recently as Director of Translational Science with the Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation. Prior to that, John held diverse roles in drug development, including Senior Principal Scientist for co-diagnostics (Kanisa Pharmaceuticals), Director of Immunology Diagnostics R&D (Prometheus Labs) and Scientific Director of Immunochemistry Services (Intertek/Alta Immunochemistry).

Dr. Marcelletti’s areas of expertise include development, validation and implementation of ligand-binding immunoanalytical and cell-based assays for small molecule and large biomolecular drugs. Such assays have been used for GLP and non-GLP sample analyses in pharmacokinetics, toxicokinetics and immunogenicity (i.e., binding and neutralizing antibodies). In addition, John has extensive experience (GCP & CLIA) with cellular and molecular biomarker assays as used for companion and general diagnostics, prognostics, and for quantitation of pharmacodynamic and drug effects. He has participated in the founding of three biotechnology companies and fully understands the complex interactions between such operations and CROs.

Dr. Marcelletti received his Ph.D. from the Dept. of Immunology and Microbiology, Wayne State Univ. School of Medicine. He has 59 scientific publications including primary research journal articles, reviews, book chapters and issued patents. He is active in the American Association of Immunologists and the American College of Rheumatology.
